Since almost two weeks I am now living in my own room. I live in a room in a shared apartment. The apartment is on the 12th floor of the building and I am living in the room number 5. To get in to the apartment and my room, there is no key needed, you just type in a code to get in....
My first week of University went by really quickly and a lot has happened… It started on Monday with a storm - there was heavy rain and wind outside and all schools were closed down. However the University was still opened. On Monday all the international students were welcomed by the CIE (College of International exchange) with a nice opening ceremony....
My first weekend in China was mostly dedicated to find an apartment to live. Luckily I had help of a local friend. Right now I’m staying in a motel that is very close to the university. On Saturday we started off by getting me my own chinese SIM card. Then we went on a long search to find an apartment. At the end of the day, we found a room to rent in a shared apartment....
Today is already my third day in Shenzhen. I landed at Hongkong international airport on Wednesday and took a ferry to Shekou, which is just next to the Nanshan district, where the University is. In the evening I had my first chinese meal - delicious as expected! After a long night of sleep I started my first real day in Shenzhen… I went to the University to finish my registration and for the class placement....
In a little more than a week I will leave for China and start my adventure. I will stay in China for at least half a year and probably as long as a year. The city I will stay in is Shenzhen ( 深圳市). It may not ring a bell in you at first, however the city is quite big, with a population almost twice as much as the one of Switzerland....
