Hiking in Shenzhen

Between the skyscraper and the crowded roads, Shenzhen also has some beautiful mountains to offer. Let me present to you three that I already climbed.

大南山 Dananshan

Dananshan is located in the southwest of Shenzhen in Shekou. It takes around 40 minutes to the temple which is on top of the mountain at 336 meters above sea level. From there you can walk another 30 minutes to the nect peak. Both peaks offer a nice view of Shekou, the seaside and if the sky is clear you can even see Hongkong. The way up and down are all stairs, but from one peak to another there is a nice path.

塘朗山 Tanglangshan

Tanglangshan is located a little north from where we live. It is around the same hight as the Nanshan Mountain. Walking up you could choose between stairs and a street. After reaching the top, we walked through a path which was kind of closed because it was still under construction. This path was a constant up and down until we reached another exit from the mountain. The view from the top was simply stunning. I’m not going to describe it to you, I’ll just show you the panorma.

I really like this picture, because you can see the beautiful nature and the huge city.

大梧桐 Dawutong

Dawutong is the highest mountain in Shenzhen. It is located in the east of Shenzhen and is 944 meters high. There are several ways up, you can take the street, the stairs or the “hiking trail”. We took up the hiking trail, which was really steep but then we also reached the top pretty fast. On our way down, we took the stairs and they’re probably the steepest stairs I’ve ever seen. I guess the view from the mountain would also be pretty nice, however on the day we climbed the mountain it was quite cloudy.

Sadly the hiking time is almost over here, because quite soon it’s going too hot to do it. I think going for a hike is a very nice opportunity to get a little our of the big city.
