Last Thrusday I went to Hong Kong for the day. Hong Kong is very close to China, however it is an autonomous region so in order to get there you have to go both through the Chinese and the Hong Kong Border.
I went to Hong Kong with my friend, because she had to go to her bank there and I just felt like going to so I went with her…
We went to Hong Kong by bus, so first we crossed the borders at Shenzhen Bay Port and then after a 45 minutea bus ride we already arrived in Hongkong Central. The bus was really convenient and with only 45 RMB (about 7 CHF) also quite affordable.
The first thing we did in Hongkong was eating a croissant and drinking a coffee and let me just tell you it was amazing (because the bread here in China is not really bread ).
Afterwards we walked a little through central Hong Kong and Lan Kwai Fong, where we also had lunch. I remarked that the streets in Hong Kong are much smaller compared to Shenzhen and the whole city has a quite busy atmosphere…
In the afternoon we went to Causeway Bay, which is a area where there are a lot of shops and even though it was only a thursday, it was pretty crowded there!
After we did a little shopping and had some good food for dinner, we already took the bus which brought us back to Shenzhen.
Even if Hongkong is still part of China, it felt like going to a different country for a day because the atmosphere, the language and the people are quite different and I think it’s quite cool to be able to do that in only one day!
