My first weekend in China was mostly dedicated to find an apartment to live. Luckily I had help of a local friend. Right now I’m staying in a motel that is very close to the university.
On Saturday we started off by getting me my own chinese SIM card. Then we went on a long search to find an apartment. At the end of the day, we found a room to rent in a shared apartment. However later it turned out, that I could not move in rightaway, because the electricity is not working yet.
On Sunday we met another friend form Shenzhen, Jessie, and we all had lunch together. It was really delicious and all the food was nicely arranged… After lunch, we did pottery. We used a rotating plate and some special technique to form the ceramic. For me it was the first time to try pottery and I was not too successful. I had to start over three times and at the fourth try I managed to do a vase with the help of the teacher… However it was still a lot of fun and a great experience!
Right now it’s Monday morning and there is a heavy storm in Shenzhen. All primary and secondary schools are closed down, but the University ist still open!
