Learning how to make dumplings

This weekend we had to go to class on a Saturday. This was because we have a one week holiday for the Mayday and therefore we have to have some additional classes. To make it a little more bearable for us to go to school on the weekend our techer designed a whole morning around food. First everyone brought a dish from their country, explained it and gave it to the others to try....

Tianjin 天津

During the Qingming festival we went to Tianjin 天津. This is a city with a population around 16 million people just about 100 km far from Beijing and therefore also often called Beijings little sister. As you can see in the map above Tianjin is not very close to Shenzhen, so we had to fly 3.5 hours to get there....

A very special shopping experience

This friday was the opening of the Uniqlo Flagship Store in Shenzhen, which happens to in the Shopping mall right next to our home. Uniqlo is a Japanese clothing brand, known for simple but good lifestyle clothes. The store opened on friday and already at noon there were around hundred people queuing up infront of it to get in....

Hiking in Shenzhen

Between the skyscraper and the crowded roads, Shenzhen also has some beautiful mountains to offer. Let me present to you three that I already climbed. 大南山 Dananshan Dananshan is located in the southwest of Shenzhen in Shekou. It takes around 40 minutes to the temple which is on top of the mountain at 336 meters above sea level. From there you can walk another 30 minutes to the nect peak....

Chinese New Year Trip

During the Chinese New Year holiday, my dad and me took a trip in Guangdong Province. Our adventure started on Saturday, as we rented a car for several days. On Saturday we drove a little around Shenzhen, visisted the Dutch Flower Market and also drove all to the south of Shekou 蛇口. On Sunday, we started early to be on the road before the traffic started....
